FAQ

If you’re new to homeopathy, you may have a few questions. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common queries. If you’d like more personalised guidance, feel free to get in touch.

What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a gentle, holistic system of medicine that supports the body’s natural ability to heal. Remedies are selected individually, based on the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

What conditions can homeopathy help with?
Homeopathy may support a wide range of acute and chronic concerns, including stress, anxiety, skin conditions, digestive issues, hormonal balance, immune health, and general wellbeing.

Is homeopathy safe?
Yes. Homeopathic remedies are non-toxic and safe for all ages, including babies and children. They can also be used alongside conventional medical care.

What happens in a first consultation?
Your initial consultation involves an in-depth discussion about your physical health, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, and medical history. This allows for a truly personalised remedy selection.

How to Take a Dose

~ Prepare the Remedy in Water:

  1. Open the bottle of your chosen remedy.
  2. Place 1-2 drops of the stock liquid (extra drops are fine) into a clean bottle (ideally glass, but plastic can work too).
  3. Fill this bottle with about 500 ml of water (feel free to adjust the amount depending on your preference).
  4. Seal the bottle and shake vigorously to ensure the remedy is distributed throughout the water.

~ Taking Your Dose:

  • Every sip from this bottle is a dose that your body recognizes.
  • For infants or those who can't drink much at once, you can use a syringe or teaspoon to administer small amounts directly into the mouth, just enough to wet the tongue or mouth.

~ Replenishing the Remedy:

  • If you need to take the remedy frequently, prepare a fresh bottle each day. You can also store the remedy in a glass jar for up to a week—just make sure the water remains clear and there are no dark marks or cloudiness. I personally prefer making a fresh bottle daily.

~ Under the Tongue Method

  • You can also place a couple of drops of the stock liquid directly under the tongue. While this method is effective, the remedy will be absorbed more slowly compared to the water method, where you can sip frequently. It’s a good option for smaller doses or when you’re on the go.

 Frequency of Dosing

~ For Acute or Intense Conditions (e.g., fever, pain, trauma):

  • You may need to dose more frequently, typically every 15 minutes to an hour.

~ For Moderate Conditions (e.g., colds, digestive upset):

  • Dose every 4 hours, or as recommended based on the severity of the symptoms.

~ As the Condition Improves:

  • Gradually reduce the frequency of dosing or stop once you see improvement. If unsure, always consult with a homeopath or refer to your reference booklet.

How often should I take my remedy?

Homeopathy emphasizes frequency, not quantity. For acute conditions, frequent doses (every 15 minutes or hour) are recommended. As symptoms improve, the frequency of doses should be reduced.

  • Acute/Intense Conditions: Frequent doses (every 15 minutes to 1 hour).
  • Moderate Conditions: Every 4 hours or as advised.
  • Improvement: Gradually reduce or stop doses when improvement is clear.

How long does it take to see results?
Each person’s healing process is unique. Some people notice changes quickly, while others experience gradual improvements over time.

What should I avoid while taking homeopathic remedies?

Strong flavours such as mint, coffee, eucalyptus, or camphor may interfere with remedies for some people. It’s best to avoid these around dosing time if possible. If you’re unsure, your homeopath can guide you.

Should I stop taking the remedy once I feel better?

If you notice improvement, it’s usually best not to repeat the remedy unnecessarily. Improvement is a sign the remedy is working. If symptoms change, return, or you’re unsure, check in with your homeopath before continuing.

What if I forget a dose?

If you miss a dose, simply take the next one as directed. There’s no need to double up unless your homeopath has advised otherwise.

Do I need to stop taking other medications?
No. You should continue any prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your doctor. Homeopathy can safely complement other treatments.

Are remedies personalised?
Yes. Remedies are carefully selected based on your individual symptoms and overall health picture, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Classical vs. Acute Treatment

  • First Aid Remedies: Designed for acute conditions like cuts, bruises, fevers, or upset stomach. For serious injuries or emergencies, seek professional medical help immediately.
  • Chronic Conditions: For ongoing or chronic ailments, such as eczema, it's recommended to consult a professional homeopath to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Can children and babies take homeopathic remedies?

Yes. Homeopathic remedies are commonly used for babies and children and are gentle and safe when prescribed correctly. Dosing instructions may vary, so always follow your homeopath’s guidance.

How should I store my remedies?

Proper storage ensures the potency of your remedies. Keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and electronic devices like mobile phones and microwaves. This helps preserve their effectiveness. Keep them out of reach of children.
